Fiona Eadie
Specialised Tutor
Fiona is one of those people who seem to manage more than is possible. When she’s not providing training for Thoughtplanters, she’s the head gardener at New Zealand’s only castle (Larnach Castle in Dunedin) or writing for the industry magazine Commercial Horticulture, where she teaches the readers about the wonders of plants.
Fiona is the author of the very successful book ‘100 Best Native Plants for New Zealand Gardens’, and she’s also been in the running for New Zealand’s Top Gardener. Working with plants is something she’s been doing for most of her life, and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. As a trainer, she loves that training allows her to learn from the student’s experiences just as much as they learn from hers. Fiona considers herself to be a ‘plant advocate’ – she believes people have forgotten that plants are the most important organisms on our planet. By passing on this knowledge, she hopes to give trainees some insights around how they can best look after the plants, no matter what area of horticulture they work in.
When Fiona isn’t at work, you can usually find her with her partner Mick at their place in Central Otago, ‘The Paddock’. It’s a place where they can sit back and indulge in the fine wine and great food the region has to offer. She also loves cooking, reading, going for walks and enjoying a nice beer.
