About Thoughtplanters
Thoughtplanters started as Horttraining, founded in 2004 to meet a shortage of quality horticulture training in New Zealand. The need was mainly in the arboriculture sector but also amenity, landscaping and general horticulture.
It all started with five arborists catching up over a quiet beer in Wellington. With plenty of combined experience and knowledge, they sussed out a plan to fill the gap and provide training to the next wave of horticulturalists. That's where the idea of Horttraining took place. The next step was to select a bunch of skilled and passionate trainers so that quality training all the way from Northland to Bluff could begin.
Horttraining succeeded beyond their expectations. Within a few years, they developed multiple training programmes across a range of industry sectors. In fact, their initial plan worked so well that calls started coming in from overseas. And just like that, Horttraining went international.
In 2010, the needs of the national and international markets grew. To meet new demands and a growing business, Thoughtplanters took over the ship. Sharing the passion for the industry and culture of training, we continue on the same path as Horttraining – planting thoughts and growing better thinkers.
Our mission
From the beginning, our mission has been quite simple – we want to provide practical training for practical people, helping more Kiwis develop their careers in the horticulture industry. Our qualified trainers rely on their experience after years of working in the real world so that they can continue to pass on their wealth of knowledge.
Why choose Thoughtplanters?
Our point of difference is that we offer flexible training at multiple locations, making it convenient for you no matter your situation. Thoughtplanters trainers are passionate about teaching horticulture from the ground up, whether it's for government agencies or other industries.
